The Spaniard, Kinsale

Visited famous local water hole “The Spaniard.” Named for the strong Spanish ties in this part of Ireland (courtesy of the Spanish Armada), it has been a local favourite for years.

Situated directly on the corner of a busy street, the establishment features two sections: the bar and the restaurant. The bar consists of precarious outdoor seating, perfect for a pint and a packet of crisps in the sun while people watching, or a cosy exterior with knowledgeable staff and friendly regulars.

The restaurant, situated at the end of the building, was tasteful and warm, with timber and natural lighting compounding. One of those places that has you salivating from the door, while the decor and aesthetic of the building only adds to the joy. I opted for a bag of crisps and a few pints in the sun, so should you.
